The fully-funded trip is the prize won by Nichola McNeill a Year 12 student for designing a leaflet on volunteering as part of a project to enhance student understanding of the role of the EU.
[singlepic id=27 w=320 h=240 float=left]The students worked with other young people from 14 different European countries which included: Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Romania. They had the opportunity to discuss important issues such as “The Place of European Values in the World”, “Migration and Integration”, “Environment and renewable energies” and “Democracy and Citizenship” and other issues that are affecting all members of the EU today. Students also had a question and answer session in various official EU languages.
[singlepic id=25 w=320 h=240 float=left]On 22nd February eight Senior Language students from St Killian’s College, Garron Tower and their teacher Manus Grogan will travel to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The students will have the chance to work in multinational groupings with other young people from across the EU.
