On Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th April St Killian’s College had the pleasure of hosting two evenings of recording for the BBC programme Songs of Praise from the college chapel. The programme was led in prayers by Canon Alec McMullan, a previous President of the college. The college choir was joined by members of Larne High School choir, as well as choral groups from throughout the Glens of Antrim and further afield. This was a wonderful experience for all of the St Killian’s students who thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to show off their musical talent to a wider and national audience. The BBC and the other visitors were very taken with the spectacular scenery of the North Antrim coast and the fact that the college is a hidden jewel in the crown of the Glens of Antrim. The programmes will be aired over two dates the first being 6th May and the second on 26th August 2012.
“As a member of the school choir, I recently took part in ‘Songs Of Praise’. It was a really enjoyable and interesting experience. It was great seeing all the equipment and doing the rehearsals, and then to see it all coming together on T.V. was amazing. It was a great thing to be part of and I really look forward to watching it!”
