Many other students joined in too and we started to plan a project to advertise our school. Both groups made a Microsoft Photostory advertisement and our primary aim, was to create a fair, accurate and honest account of life in St. Killian’s College.
To make sure we created the best possible product, we planned exactly what we wanted to put into the film, and we did this using storyboards and a script. Once the photographs were taken and uploaded them, we put them into an order that would allow us to tell a story. Then, we wrote a script that we could record as a voice-over to our film. (The real task here was in ensuring that the images matched what we were saying.
When the two projects were complete, the School Principal; Mr Brady, Vice Principals; Mrs McKay and Mr McIlwaine,Head of Year 12; Miss Berry, and a well-known BBC sports-news reader; Mark Sidebottom,came to watch the final products. In the end, they were very impressed by the amount of time we had given up to make our advertisements as the Media Club runs during lunch (allowing us very little time).
The whole Media Club put a lot of effort into the projects and everyone contributed to the process by making everything work and by honouring the deadlines set.
I think that the Media Club is very worthwhile and a great opportunity for anyone interested in Media or getting into a job in this field.
