Jacob Armstrong secures prestigious all Ireland bursary

Congratulations to Jacob Armstrong who has secured the very prestigious educational bursary ‘All Ireland Scholarship Award’ and this is on the back of securing a place at Oxford University.

One hundred and twenty –five highly talented students across the island of Ireland were awarded the bursary. The scholarships, which were established in 2008, have been set at £5,500 per annum and continue for the duration of the undergraduate programme. To date this illustrious award has been received by 619 students.

The annual All Ireland Scholarship awards ceremony will take place at the University of Limerick on Saturday 17th November where President Bill Clinton will be guest of honour.  Sponsored by JP McManus, the educational bursary provides financial assistance to many high achieving students who completed their Leaving Certificates and A Level examinations in 2012.

Jacob, who is now reading Mathematics at Oxford University,  is a well deserving recipient of the award. Jacob has always been an enthusiastic Mathematician and a student who put all of his efforts into everything that he does!!

Mr J. Brady, St Killian’s Principal, said, ‘I am delighted that Jacob has received recognition now both academically and financially for his significant achievements. He is a credit to himself and his family and the college is very proud of him.  I wish him every success for his time at Oxford and know that the words of President Clinton will be an inspiration to him for his future.’

J P McManus said ‘On behalf of my family and myself, I wish all the scholarship recipients, past, present, and future personal fulfillment, happiness and success as they face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.’
